As a member of Local First Arizona, OrangeSlyce seeks to practice what we preach: local connections for communal benefit. As a non-profit, Local First Arizona is educating citizens, stakeholders, business leaders, and legislators about the significant environmental, economic, and cultural benefits of strong local economies.

For every $100 spent in a locally owned business roughly $42 remains right here in Arizona. Take the same $100 and spend it in a national chain store and only $13 will be reinvested in our community. Additionally, in the face of current environmental challenges, average consumers are recognizing the real cost of tomatoes trekked 1,500 miles (an excessive $4.15 per gallon) to the local grocery store.

The false promise of savings and homogenization of individual communities by national chains are driving a “go local” movement in community economics that is at the heart of OrangeSlyce. Local talent for local businesses, cultivating a healthy community we can all be proud to call home.
